William J. Boak, 82, of 1032 Beckford St. died Aug. 23, 2015, in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born on Aug. 19, 1933, in Mount Jackson, a son of the late William and Frances Kolodziejski Boak Sr.

Bill married the former Florence C. Barattiero. They were married for 57 years. She survives.

Following graduation, Bill Boak enlisted in the Army. He served as a Private, QMC, USAR during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on June 10, 1961.

He retired after 30 years of service as an axle inspector for the North American Rockwell Corp. in New Castle. Bill also was a graduate of New Castle School of Trades in 1990.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and fly-tying, and loved going to camp in Tionesta. Bill enjoyed watching professional sports on television, especially Pittsburgh sports teams and professional golf. He played minor league baseball for the New York Giants organization.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his son, Dr. W. Bryan (Brian) Boak of Pittsburgh; daughters, Michele L. (Donald) Runyon of New Castle and Karen L. (Robert) Fareri of Pittsburgh; brother, Robert (Judy) Boak of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren, Sean (Kim) Runyon of New Castle, Jason (Christine) Runyon, Alexandra Runyon, Michael Fareri, Maria Fareri, Sam Fareri, Jenna Fareri and Sophia Fareri, all of Pittsburgh; and two great-grandchildren, Giavanna Runyon and Charlotte Runyon, of New Castle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by one brother, Chester (Chet) Boak.

Rite of Committal and burial was to be in St. Lucy Cemetery.

Bill was the 39th classmate to walk down the aisle at graduation. After his name in the Yearbook, it reads: Basketball 10-11-12, Track 10-11-12, Varsity football 11-12.
