Leo E. "Dutch" Carlin, 82, of New Castle passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, in Grove City Medical Center.

He was born May 25, 1934, in New Castle, a son of the late John P. and Julia Ann Sullivan Carlin. Dutch was a lifelong area resident of New Castle.

A banker, he retired after many years of service from the former Peoples Bank of New Castle. Following retirement, he owned and operated two small businesses, The Dutch Treat in the Towne Mall and Cone & Shake in Mahoningtown. Dutch was a lifelong member of St. Mary Church, Mary, Mother of Hope Parish. He was currently serving on the Board of Directors of GNC Community Federal Credit Union, New Castle, and also as an appointee of the New Castle Airport Authority.

Surviving are his wife, the former Rose M. Harvan, whom he married in 1975; three daughters, Diane Seamans and her husband, Wayne, Joyce Ann Carlin, and Christine Marino and her husband, Samuel, all of New Castle; a son, James J. Farone and his wife, Marcia, of New Galilee, Pa.; a sister, Shirley O'Connor of New Castle; eight grandchildren, Michelle Morelli, Colleen Anthony, Paul James Farone, Carl Farone, Denise Goswick, Matthew Carlin, Wayne Seamans and Sarah Seamans; and six great-grandchildren.

 In addition to his parents, Dutch was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Carlin; three brothers, Raymond,  GyJohn and T. Francis Carlin; and two sisters, Marie Sidnam and Irene Glasstetter.

Dutch was the 76th classmate to walk down the aisle at graduation. After his name in the Yearbook, it reads: Gym team 10, Hall Patrol 10-11.
