Gaylene Sue Deiger Polding, 75, of 23 Shenango Road, New Castle, died May 14, 2009, in Edison Manor.

Born March 6, 1934, in New Castle, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Grace Patton Deiger.

She married Dana E. Polding on Sept. 6, 1953. He survives.

Gaylene was employed by Liberty Mutual in the risk control department. She was then self-employed as a mortgage closer and also was a Realtor.

She enjoyed gardening and birds.

Gaylene was a member of First Alliance Church, where she was president of the Alliance Women, the youth director and a Sunday school teacher. Because of her love for music, she also played the church organ and piano for 52 years.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Victoria Polding, and Bruce and Susan Polding, all of New Castle, and Brian and Brenda Polding of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Colleen Masters of Salem, Ohio; four grandchildren, Stefanie Polding of South Bound Brook, N.J., Brittany Polding, Steven Polding and Sean Polding, all of New Castle; and one great-grandson, Braidin Kind of New Castle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Doreen Morton.

Gaylene was the 123rd classmate to walk down the aisle at graduation.

After her name in the Yearbook it says: "Always nice to have around. Business Efficiency Club, 12; Y-Teens, 11-12; Dofobs, 12."
