Chloe Elizabeth (Eggleston) Lane, 80, of New Castle died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, in Jameson Hospital.

The daughter of the late Archie and Mary Davis Eggleston, Chloe was born Nov. 6, 1934, in New Castle. She married Joseph Lane on Feb. 6, 1953; they were married over 60 years.

An employee at G.C. Murphy from 1970 until it closed in 1995, she started her career as a cashier and through promotions worked her way to personnel director. Chloe then worked at the Lawrence County Court House Prothonotary office as a data clerk.

She was an avid reader, sports fanatic and enjoyed dancing. Throughout her community, she was well-known for her baking skills. Chloe loved cooking Sunday dinners for her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, James, Luther, Leonard, Thomas and William Eggleston, and four sisters, Pamela Poindexter, Florence Jones, Joydice Maxwell and Phyllis Johnson.

She is survived by her husband, six children, Joseph Lane Jr., Sharon Harrison (John), Jeffery Lane (Paulette), Lori Harge (Glenn), Byron Lane (companion Michelle) and Eric Lane (Tiffany); nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Roberta Young and Cleo Currie of New Castle; and one brother, Robert Eggleston (Paulette) of Columbus, Ohio.

Chloe was the 143rd classmate to walk down the aisle at graduation. After her name in the Yearbook it reads: Spanish Club 11-12, Football Usher 12, Squad Leader 12.
