Joan Cooper McCall was one of the 12 classy New Castle majorettes in 1952. E. Joan Cooper McCall, 72, died Dec. 28, 2006 at her home in Riverside, California.

She was born on Dec. 11, 1934, a daughter of the late William and Luella Mae Cooper.

She married in 1953 and had four children, all of them surviving: three sons, Fred and Thom McCall of Riverside, and John McCall of Palm Springs, Calif.; and one daughter Kim McCall of Tigard, Ore.

She is also survived by three sisters, Violet “Dot” Rosatti of St. Louis, Betty Oliphant of New Wilmington and Luella “Sis” Libertosky of Cleveland; and one brother, Wilbur “Sonny” Cooper of New Castle. Her sister, Thelma Martin, preceded her in death. A celebration of life was scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007 at her home in Riverside.

In 1973, she graduated as a licensed practical nurse from the Lawrence County Area Vocational Technical School.

She is the 102nd classmate to pass on.

Joan was the 97th of 477 classmates to walk down the aisle at graduation in 1952.

After her name in the Yearbook it reads: "A sweeter girl never drew breath." Majorette 10-11-12.
