Mt. McKinley in Alaska in 1958. Rising 20,320 feet, it is the tallest mountain in North America and also the coldest mountain in the world ouside of Antarctic. Its combination of height, latitude and terrible weather are literally unique. The summit area is below zero degrees almost all of the time, and ferocious wind lashes the peak virtually incessantly.
The tall ship parade in Halifax Harbour in 1994.  Founded in 1749, Halifax is the capital city of Nova Scotia. It has a population of 340,000 who are known as Haligonians. The harbour is world famous for its depth and frost free waters, making it a leading North American container port. Halifax is home to five universities, is Canada's major naval base and is often know as the "Birthplace of British Canada," the "City of Trees," and the "City of Firsts."
