Joyce Latimer Powers, 83, of Sharpsburg, Md., died March 25, 2018 after a brief illness.

Born Oct. 27, 1934, in Lawrence County, to the late Vane and Freida Latimer, Joyce worked at different times as a stock broker, the president of a masonry company, and the owner of a goat cheese dairy. A person of unbridled drive and determination, Joyce preferred to do jobs herself when she could. If she couldn't, she did her best to see that they were done properly.

When not working, Joyce enjoyed living her life like an artist, letting her passion for nature and sense of creativity carry her. The force of her creative spirit, not to mention the warmth of her heart, was best seen when either painting, working in her gardens, or cooking for her family.

Joyce is preceded in death by her first husband, James W. Biros; her second husband, Gene L. O'Neil; her sister, Patricia (Latimer) Davidson; and her brother, Dave Latimer.

She is survived by her husband, Noel R. Powers; brother, Tom Latimer; her children, Alan Biros, Joyce (Biros) Antos, Jill (Biros) Little and Dale Biros; her stepchildren, David O'Neil, Tim O'Neil, Dan O'Neil, Patty (O'Neil) May, Michelle Thomas and Wayne Garrett; and her grandchildren, Jennette (Antos) Anderson, Carrie (Antos) Hofman, Brian Biros, John Little, Joseph Little, Michael Biros, Elisabeth Biros, and Matthew Biros, along with great-grandchildren.

Interment was in Fair Oaks Cemetery in New Wilmington, Pa.
