John McKay, 85, of Medina, Ohio, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018. 

John was born Nov. 10, 1933, in New Castle and graduated from New Castle High. He continued his education at Youngstown State University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in accounting. 

He married classmate Sally Mikels, on June 2, 1956. They were married for 61 years until her passing in 2017. 

After college, John began his business career at the B.F. Goodrich Co., where he worked for 24 years, eventually becoming president of its Engineered Products Division. He later moved on to the McNeil Corp. in Akron, Ohio, serving as its executive vice president. 

In 1986, he accepted a position as president and CEO of the Beloit Corp. in Beloit, Wis., and was later promoted to president of its parent company, Harnischfeger Industries, where he retired in 1995.

 His work gave hi, m the opportunity to travel the globe. Retirement was filled with golf and wintering in Vero Beach, Fla. John was also a Mason for over 50 years. 

He is survived by sons, Mark and Jeff, and daughter, Patricia (Michael) LeHere.

John was the 295th classmate to walk down the aisle at graduation. After his name in the Yearbook, it reads: Student Council 11-12; Student Council committee 11-12; Basketball 10-11-12; Home Room Representative 10; Hall Patrol 10-12.
