Ronald Meek, 74, of New Castle died the evening of Jan. 18, 2009, at Jameson Hospital.

Born June 13, 1934, in New Castle, he was a son of the late Arthur W. and Opal Keister Meek.

He married Bette Fisk on April 16, 1983. She survives.

Ron was the owner of Meek’s Jewelry, from which he retired in 2000. He also worked in sales for Flowline.

After graduating from New Castle Senior High School in 1952, he attended Grove City College.

He served in the Army.

He was a member of the New Castle Lions Club and a Past King Lion. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Lodge of the Craft. He worked for Habitat for Humanity and was on the board of Seneca Hills Church Camp and a volunteer. He enjoyed hunting. He was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Whitney Meek and Jennifer Ladd of South Dakota; two sons, Timothy Meek and James Meek of South Dakota; a step-daughter, Jill Wilson of New Wilmington, 11 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Ron was the 300th classmate to walk down the aisle at graduation. After his name in the Yearbook it says: "Isn't Life Grand?" Band, 10-11-12, Hall Patrol 11-12, Hi-Y 11, Perfect Attendance 10.
