Sara “Sally” Mikels McKay, 82, of Medina, Ohio and Vero Beach, Florida, has died.

Sally was born to John and Edith Mikels in Springfield, Ohio on October 1, 1934. After graduating from high school in 1952, she attended and graduated from Slippery Rock University in 1956 with a degree in education.

Soon after her marriage to John McKay, also a member of the 1952 class, they moved to the Akron area. She taught for two years at Price Elementary School in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. During 61 years of marriage, she and John traveled to many places around the world. Upon retirement, they relocated to Medina, Ohio, while wintering in Vero Beach, Fla. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by children Mark, Jeff, and Patricia (Michael) LeHere; sister, Marilyn Guzzo of Clarkston, Mich.; and canine companion, Sam, the Bluetick Beagle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister Beverly Mikels.

Sally was the 306th classmate to walk down the aisle at graduation. After her name in the Yearbook, it reads: Auditorium Usher 10-12; Y-Teens 11-12; Hall Receptionist 11; Goal Post 12; Literary Club 12.
