Dickson W. Mitchell, 80, of Dawsonville, Ga., died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, following a period of declining health.

He was born Dec. 18, 1933, in New Castle, a son of the late Cecil and Margurite Mitchell.

Dickson worked as manager of the Kroger store in New Castle and later worked as store manager for Sam's Club. After his retirement, he moved to The Villages, Florida.

He was an Army veteran. For many years, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Dickson was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and an avid golfer.

Dickson was also preceded in death by his wife, Gerry Mitchell; his son, Scott Mitchell; and his brother, Jack Mitchell.

Surviving are his daughter, Laura Bechara of Dawsonville, his grandsons, Skott Bechara of Orlando, Fla. and Michael Bechara of Coconut Creek, Fla.; and a sister, Jackie Bush of New Castle.

Burial was at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

Dickson was the 310th classmate to walk down the aisle at graduation. After his name in the Yearbook, it reads: Hall Patrol 11-12, Hi-Y 12.
