Richard "Dick" Clark Palmer, 83, of Butler, formerly of Largo, Fla., died Aug. 25, 2017, while under the care of the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Cabot, Pa. 

Born March 18, 1934, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Arthur J. and Florence Clark Palmer. 

Dick worked at ARMCO Steel for 34 years. He belonged to the Butler Quarterback Club and was President of the Sugar Creek Community Club in Largo, Fla. Dick donated a lot of his time in Florida. He was well known for building and installing string light Christmas trees. He was also an avid golfer and bowler.  

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary White Palmer; children, Susan (Greg) Mason of Butler, Nancy (James) Young of Largo, Fla., Stephen Palmer of Butler and Gerald (Kristen) Palmer of Cranberry Township; grandchildren, Tammy and Keith Lehman, Abigail Mason, James Young, Alex Carson, Shelby and Ken Ellguth, Jennifer Young and Nicholas Carson; and great-grandchildren, Emma Lehman, Audrey Lehman and Olivia Ellguth. 

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. 

Dick was the 334th classmate to walk down the aisle at graduation. After his name in the Yearbook, it reads: Shop football, 10.
