Vivian M. Rauso, 74, of 606 W. Madison Ave. died the morning of Jan. 15, 2009, in Jameson Hospital.

Born July 31, 1934, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary A. DeMasi Rauso.

She retired in 2006 as a department manager at the former Kaufmann’s Department Store in the Shenango Valley Mall. She had also worked at the Kaufmann’s in Youngstown. In earlier years, she worked at the former Reliable Luggage Co.

Miss Rauso was an animal lover who enjoyed her pets and taking care of animals. She was an avid supporter of the Lawrence County Humane Society. She had three dogs, Micki, Nicki and Sabrina.

She also enjoyed traveling to Mountaineer Resort and Casino, and in her earlier years was involved with the New Castle Playhouse, acting in some productions.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, James and Judy Rauso of Hermitage; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Madeline Gurneal, Mary Ann Rauso, and Regina and Carl Chiafullo, all of New Castle, and Gemma and Art Thomas of Boardman; and 14 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Michael “Mickie” Rauso, and two sisters, Rose Marcantino and Francine Carabbia.

Burial was to be in St. Lucy Cemetery.

She was the 363rd classmate to walk down the aisle at graduation. After her name in the Yearbook it says: Full of laughter, enjoys life thoroughly. Dofobs 10, Squad leader, 11-12.
