Charles "Scotty" Henry Scott, 78, of Union Township, died April 27, 2013 at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

 He was born Oct. 17, 1934 in New Castle, a son of the late William and Jane Owoc Scott.

 He married the former Ann B. Golba on Aug. 9, 1958 in Madonna Church. She survives at home.

 Charles served with the Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958 and held the rank of corporal. He was honorably discharged in 1958.

He had been employed with the A&P grocery chain as dairy manager for 20 years. He retired from First Energy (Penn Power) after 14 years in the maintenance department.

 He was a past president of the Wabash Bears Bowling League and the Penn Power Mens Club. Charles also was a well-known softball umpire for many years in Lawrence County.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Ann (James) Jancel of Pittsburgh; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William "Bob" (Carolyn) Scott of New Castle and Walter (Carlene) Scott of Waretown, N.J.; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty (Plennie) Preisel of New Castle; and two grandchildren, Emma Grace Jancel and Sienna Lee Jancel of Pittsburgh.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was to be laid to rest in Castle View Mausoleum.

Charles was the 398th classmate to walk down the aisle at graduation. After his name in the Yearbook it says: "ChooChoo is short, he is a riot; take my word, he's not quiet." Home Room representative 12, Hall Patrol 12, Junior Band 11-12.
