Harry Emerson Senheiser, 71, of 2703 Graceland Road died at 2:05 p.m. April 15, 2006, in Jameson Hospital.

Born Aug. 28, 1934, in New Castle, he was a son of the late George Wilson and Anna B. Goodhart Senheiser.

Harry was a teacher and administrator in the Neshannock Township School District for 36 years, retiring in 1992.

He is the 98th classmate to pass on.

Harry received a bachelor of science degree in education from Westminster College in 1956 and a master’s degree in education from Westminster in 1978. He did graduate work at Penn State University in 1958 and did work in drug education curriculum development at Adelphi University in 1973.

At Westminster College, he received his elementary principal’s certification in 1980, secondary principal’s certification in 1981 and completed supervisor of curriculum and instruction studies in 1982.

He was a member of the National Association of Teachers of English; the Association of Gifted, Council of Exceptional Children; the Pennsylvania Association for the Study and Education of the Mentally Gifted; Neshannock Township Teachers Association; Pennsylvania State Education Association; National Education Association; P.A.S.E.D; and A.S.C.D.

Harry had been a board member and president of the Lawrence County Humane Society; Neshannock Township Lions Club; a board member and president of the Lawrence County TB and RD Society; vice president of the Christmas Seal League of Southwestern Pennsylvania; state board member of the Pennsylvania Lung Association; a scoutmaster for 14 years, explorer advisor and executive board member of the Lawrence County Council of the Boy Scouts of America; chairman of the Neshannock Township bicentennial committee; founder and chairman of the board of the Robert D. Stevenson Scholarship Foundation; board member of the Lawrence County Drug and Alcohol Abuse Committee; chairman of the Institutional Review Committee at Jameson Hospital; Leadership Training and Personnel Development Committee chairman of Moraine Trails Council of Boy Scouts of America; chairman of the Tom Brozoza All-Star Banquet in Neshannock Township; chairman of the Seal Sale Campaign of the Christmas Seal League of Southwestern Pennsylvania for three years; and Hi-Y and Gray-Y adviser at the New Castle Community Y.

He was a member of Mahoningtown Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include cousins, Sandy Atiyeh of Allentown, Pa.; N. Kellar Cochran of Tampa, Fla.; Mike Cochran of Neptune, N.J.; Dora Eckenrude of Orrstown, Pa., and Jackie Bishkop of Irwin, Pa.

Harry was the 402nd person to walk down the aisle at graduation.

After his name in the Yearbook it reads: (and try to imagine his booming voice saying this) "Arguing is my chief delight; I can't be wrong, I must be right." 

Burial was to be in Oak Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harry E. Senheiser Scholarship Fund, in care of the Stevenson Foundation, 301 Mitchell Road, New Castle 16105.
