Virginia T. “Jeannie” Tukiewicz Farrington, 77, of 1715 Kerr St., died April 11, 2012, in the Avalon Nursing Home.
She was born Nov. 17, 1934, in New Castle, to the late John and Victoria Gumienny Turkiewicz.
She was married for 53 years to Duane F. Farrington. He died last month, March 27, 2012. A sister, Loretta Domenick, also died recently.
Virginia was Catholic and a member of St. Vincent DePaul Parish.
She worked for the New Castle Sanitation Authority for 25 years as a bookkeeper.
She enjoyed raising flowers, gardening and traveling with her husband.
Survivors include her three children, Victoria L. (Dr. William Stockhausen) Farrington of Seattle, Laurie L. Alexander of Pittsburgh and Duane F. (Jennifer L.) Farrington II of New Castle; a brother and sister-in-law, Theodore “Ted” Thorman and his wife, Peggy of New Castle; a sister, Stella Hench of Greensburg; and three grandchildren, Aimee E. Gerber, Brian D. Farrington and Katie L. Farrington.
In addition to her parents and husband, Duane, Virginia was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Turkiewicz and John Turkiewicz; five sisters, Ann Trimble, Betty Kolodziej, Gertrude Reston, Helen Turkiewicz and Loretta Domenick; and granddaughter, Tiffany A. Gerber.
Rite of committal and burial was to be in S.S. Philip & James Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Vincent DePaul Parish.
