    Mary Alice Vallely Callahan of Sharpsville, formerly of West Middlesex, passed away Oct. 9, 2011, at her daughter’s home following an extended battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 77.
    Mary Alice was born Sept, 18, 1934, in New Castle, a daughter of Frank and Helena Lehman Vallely.
    She was a longtime member of Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex.
    Her husband, Patrick J. Callahan Jr., whom she married Oct. 15, 1955, passed away Oct. 21, 1996,
    She was the mother of Ginny Pallatino of Level Green, Pa., Tim Callahan and wife Terri of Pulaski, Shawn Callahan and Lisa of Sharpsville, Rick Callahan and wife Vicki of Severna Park, Md., Colleen Pickens and husband Jack of Pulaski, Pa., Kevin Callahan and wife Wendy of Sharpsville, Maureen Herrmann and husband P.J. of Sharpsville, and Michael Callahan and wife Denise of Pulaski.
    She was the sister of Lynn Vallely and wife Mary of Tunnel Hill, Ga., and the grandmother of Danny, Chelsea, Brandon, Jennifer, Kelly, Tyler, Brianna, Nevaeh, Shane, Derek, Kayla, Gavin, Paul, Patrick, Christian, Zac, Madison and Maranda. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Eugene, and Francis “Beau” Vallely; two sisters, Agnes “Dolly” Benedict and Nancy Huff; and an infant granddaughter, Alicia Callahan.
    Burial was to be in St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
    She was  the 445th classmate to walk down the aisle at graduation. After her name in  the Yearbook it reads: "Quiet and nice to know."
